Though we are in just our third
season, we have grown to 155 teams, an increase of 42 over
last season, proving that girls’ and women’s football
is still growing fast in West Yorkshire. |
Last season we introduced an open-age division, and
I am pleased to say that we had enough entries to make two
divisions this year.
At the other end of the age range, the introduction of an
under 9 division has proved successful.
We now provide playing opportunities for over 2000 girls
and ladies from under 9 up to open age.
Everyone connected with the League can be proud of that. |

The League is not just about fixtures and
results. One of the
most important aspects is our Education Programme, providing
coaching courses, and workshops on child protection, first aid
and match-day skills. These
are either free, or subsidised, and are consistent with our
values of improving skills and promoting a safe playing
environment. |
This season we are concentrating on FA Level 1
courses, and providing practical assistance to clubs to achieve
Charter Standard |
We are very proud of our partnerships with
West Yorkshire Sport and with the West Riding County Football
Association. With
their help we have introduced arrangements for talented players
to attend the assessment centres at Barnsley and Leeds United,
where some will progress to coaching centres and others to the
Centres of Excellence. |
This season will see the introduction of a further
Centre of Excellence, sited at Batley.
This Centre will start operations in November and
concentrate initially on girls aged under 10 and under12. |
By working together, sharing ideas, and
listening, the League can offer players, managers, coaches,
administrators and other volunteers the chance to develop and
progress with the League with a Difference. |
