West Riding u10's

East Riding  v  West Riding

It had been a shocking week – rain every day and a forecast that promised more rain in the preceding 24 hours.  Fortunately rain on the Saturday was light albeit consistent and with intense work on the ground Saturday morning the 178 players arrived to find an excellent surface for the games

u16 Match Action

u14's Emphatic

Simultaneously on the big pitch Steve Dobson was guiding the U14’s to emphatic wins over their East Riding counterparts by 3-1 and 4-1.

Does anyone, except Premiership Managers, research the opposition more than Steve.

In the first game, the all-important scorers for the West were Goole’s flying striker Kirstie Nicholls with two Ruby Greaves.

The Second game saw Ellie Dobson, Anna Ellington, Shameeka Fishley and Ruby Greaves again on the scoresheet.

u12's Get the Afternoon Under Way

u10 Match Action

Lunch came with little spare time before Howden Bowden took to the stage with his two U12 squads

It was impossible to see all the action unless you had eyes in the back of your head  but the little I did see confirmed a squad who could pass and move and play controlled football.   Howard’s four games resulted in 2-0, 1-0 and again 1-0 wins with one game resulting in a draw 1-1.

Scorers for the u12’s were Rebecca Moore Huddersfield Town's Rebecca Moore (3) and one each for Wifton Moor's  Kelsey Wood and Sophie Varley.

West Riding u16's

u16's Competitive

u16 Match Action

Over on the big pitch a fierce battle was under way with the East Riding fielding four Hull City players and four players from the Hessle Town Tesco Cup Finalists.

In the event the West Riding were more than a match, winning both games 1-0 & 3-0

Long ball tactics from the East Riding did nothing to aid a free flowing game but there were moments of skill from the West who can certainly play better but on the day were somewhat thrown out of their stride by the hit and hope ER tactics.

Goals for the West Riding were scored by Paige Crosby – a great turn and shot – Cloe Moore 2 a super performance and one from Beth Smith
